about

BL BOOM Alter-Culture Association are celebrating their first Birthday! Because of their one year anniversary, BL BOOM Alter-Culture Association decided to treat the world with a compilation that showcases current and active alternative metal/hardcore/punk bands exclusively from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Why Bosnia? The still unofficial NGO BL BOOM Alter-Culture Association is located in this country, so the most logical choice was to showcase our own bands. The songs in this compilation are either not yet released from upcoming albums, or they were released during this year, or during 2013. The Vehemence Compilation represents excellent work done by bands who live and work in a country were such a profession is not very respected. One of our missions is to help all artists from our country, to push their work forwards, and to showcase what they have done and what they are doing not only to the people from the Balkans, but also to the rest of the world. This compilation is free to download, but we would very much appreciate if you could donate any amount that you wish by "naming your own price". Money donated to this compilation will be evenly distributed among all the participating bands, BL BOOM Alter-Culture Association takes only 5% of the entire sum (not per payment). All the bands are aware of this and they have all consented to these options. Since BL BOOM Records is currently not a real studio, we act only as publishers. None of these songs were recorded by us, but by individual bands, persons or studios. All the information about the bands, their work and the songs can be found within each track or by reading the following below.

BRAINSWITCH
Brainswitch are an alternative metal band from Mostar who enrich their sound with elements of psychedelia, grunge harmonies and post-rock elements. The band are currently working on their debut album named And The World Will Sleep which will contain 12 songs and should be released at the begining of 2015. The album is recorded at MC Pavarotti Studio and Epicentar Studio in Mostar. The mix of the album will be done by Đeno Mujić & Petra Zizak at Epicentar Studio and mastering by James Plotkin at Plotkinworks Studio (Philadelphia, USA). The song from this compilation The Lost Perseids was also recorded, mastered and mixed by the same individuals and studios. The band released this song as a single that announces the upcoming album by allowing us to promote it through our compilation and webzine. The lyrics (written in English) are a reflection of conscious and subconscious experiences and fantasies. Without excessive narration, the text is trying to convey the image of the short format of the content, sometimes inconclusive, with a taste of morbid and abstract. The members of the band are Goran Tiro (Guitar), Zlatko Drljević (Drums), Adnan Karadža (Guitar), Višeslav Lucić (Bass) i Adam Kresić (Vocals).

POPIK
POPIK are a punk/rock band from Sarajevo. They got together in 2014. POPIK was created as an answer to all the BiH craziness, lies, deceits, genocidal intentions of Bosnian politicians, as well as their mental and physical aggressors who would like it most if we were all dead so that they can plant pitchforks and shopping centers on our bones. POPIK is music for the capable. POPIK answers only to what they say, and not how people perceive what they are saying. In other words, POPIK is not a band but a REACTION. In an apathetic society filled with hypocrisy and mental primitivism, POPIK is a shot of adrenaline straight into your heart. POPIK is a live force ready to talk, discuss and argument, with mutual respect, a force that is based on ideas of common sense and logic. They are not a politically correct band, they are also not a politically oriented band, even though they have slight sympathies towards the left side – it’s not a political choice, but common sense. The song from this compilation NGO is part of their first demo release. The recording, production and mixing was done by Emir Saračević.

Later on, Jovana Lekanić (Vocals) and Duško Gračanin Duc (Bass Guitar) joined the band. In March 2013, they recorded their first song Embrace Me. At the end of June during the same year, they recorded their second song Stoned (Seven Days I Smoked). The band had some problems so they stopped working once again. In September 2013, Flintstoners began working once again, but without a bass guitarist. Đorđe went back to being the band’s bass guitarist while Dario Karalić – Dado became the new drummer. From October 2013, Flintstoners have been working hard and they also had their first live performance. They recorded new songs and finished recording their album Desert Bedrock In Another Space. They also recorded the songs Escape and Lavender Fields. This song from the compilation was made featuring vocalist Strahinja Cerovina from the band Concrete Sun (Novi Sad, Serbia). This song is also part of their still unreleased album Desert Bedrock In Another Space. The album was recorded by Nikola Mijović in the Rewind Studio, and Nikola was also responsible for the mix and mastering.

MOTHER’S CHAINSAW
Mother's Chainsaw are a metal band from Mostar. The band was formed in 2006 by guitarist and lead vocalist Danijel Raspudić Dane. They had several lineup changes while experimenting to find their original sound. After stabilizing their lineup to the current one featuring the founder Danijel Raspudić Dane (Vocals, Guitar), Milijan Raspudić Mika (Guitar), Mario Krišto (Bass Guitar) and Andrija Lesko (Drums), they recorded their first demo album To the Bone in 2010. They produced it themselves. The song from this compilation Dying Slow is part of this album, which they also released as a single during this year. This first album picked up great reviews and has found its way to the radio stations of Great Britain, USA, Italy, Germany, Belgium and several other places. The sound of Mother’s Chainsaw can be described as metal with elements of Balkan ethno music. Their characteristic combination of traditional melodies and heavy sounds, unconventional rhythms and rhythmic approaches unique to this region, distinguishes them as a unique musical refreshment with the power to occupy one’s full attention regardless of their musical preferences.

BENEFIT
Benefit are a groove metal band. They got together in January 2010 in Banja Luka (Bosnia and Herzegovina). Vocalist Đorđe Radanović was at a high school party when he met the rest of the band members: drummer Bojan Katalina, guitarist Srđan Lakić, guitarist Boris Šarić and bass guitarist Mihailo Savić. They quickly began to perform throughout the city. In March 2013, Benefit received the award as first-ranked at the Tamaris Music Fest in Prijedor (Bosnia and Herzegovina). They won the Wacken Open Air Metal Battle 2014 for the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina. They were also awarded the award of the audience at the Jelen Demofest 2014 in Banja Luka. Benefit have recorded their first EP with 5 songs, and the work should be finished and released by the end of this year. Their first demo songs were recorded with stoner rock elements, but as a band they strive towards more aggressive, yet still melodic sounds with noticeable sludge metal elements. Bands that influenced Benefit are Pantera, Lamb of God, Tool, Death and many others, yet Benefit really do strive towards a unique sound. This will be obvious on their upcoming EP, on which the song from this compilation My Time Has Come will also be a part of. The EP is being recorded at the studio Ton Studio 4 in Banja Luka, where My Time Has Come was also recorded. The main producer and recording master is Dragan Bošnjak.
